And… do you know how easy laying can be.. Well let’s take an example. Picking a 50/1 to lose is very easy, or even picking an outsider in a race to lose is easy. Let’s say you find a horse race with 20 selections, and you lay a selection at 20/1. That means if you want to make £10, you need to put £200 to one side just in case it wins, and you would lose £200. Now, if we did this 20 times a row, you would probably lose the 20/1 shot 18 times ,and 2 times the 20/1 would win making you a huge loss!
So.. where does Auto Lays go right? We only back short priced favourites, with maximum odds of 2.50 (6/4). Our system works by selecting just 5 selections per day. Now, I will tell you a little about the statistic involved.
The chance of a favourite winning a race is 30% and the chance of it losing is 70%. That means, if our system was a backing system, the chance of having 5 successive losers would be 16.87%. If you a statistician or even mathematician I will show you how this works. The chance of losing a race is 70%, which is 0.7. So, if multiple 0.7 to the power of 5 (5 races), which is 0.7 X 0.7 X 0.7 X 0.7 X 0.7, and then multiple by 100, the answer is 16.87%. So, if you follow a backing system of 5 selections per day, the chance of NOT hitting a winner is 16.87% which is huge!
So, let’s turn the tables and look at laying instead. Do you know what the chance of 5 races to win in a row is? I imagine you will guess maybe 10% as most of you will assume it has to be lower that the percentage of 5 races in a row to lose! Now, well I tell you the answer you will be shocked!
The chance of 5 races in a row, all favourites to win, is just 0.24%. So, how do I get to this figure? . The chance of winning a race is 30%, which is 0.3. So, if multiple 0.3 to the power of 5 (5 races), which is 0.3 X 0.3 X 0.3 X 0.3 X 0.3, and then multiple by 100, the answer is 0.24%.
The probability of 5 favourites to win in a row is 0.24%
So, do you know what the chance of 5 favourites NOT to win in a row is?
The chance of NOT winning all 5 races is 100% - 0.24%, which is 99.76%. My system works on laying, i.e. backing favourites to lose. We select 5 selections per day, and of course we need 1 selection to lose. The chance of making profit everyday is 99.76%, and I have shown you that above. The chance of being unlucky and hitting 5 selections in row that win is 0.24%.
